Founder’s Story

I have been living with slipped discs since 2014, and also enduring the other aches and pains in my neck, knees and ankles as a result of my body compensating for my condition. I have light-heartedly labelled myself as a walking Jenga Block - one wrong movement and the back may go into spasms which may cause me to collapse. Besides affecting my job, my situation had put an end to my playing my favourite sport, Squash.

This marked the beginning of my journey to formulate my own wellness ecosystem. My back spasms were re-surfacing almost like clockwork every other month.

My back care regime consisted of daily core strengthening workouts (crunches and leg-raises), walking in the pool twice a week, tennis and cycling, and monthly visits to the Chiropractor. This routine kept the spasms from appearing monthly and it was now surfacing in intervals of 2 to 3 months.

In December 2018, my back started acting up, but this time almost daily.

I decided to go for another MRI in Jan 2019 to determine the cause and the news was not good. I was told by Dr Gan Yu Unn of Asia Health Partners, that in addition to my previously diagnosed bad discs in L3, L4, L5, I have a deteriorating L1. It was Dr Gan Yu Unn who encouraged me to go back to playing squash because it will force me to work harder on my core muscles

In February 2019, while still looking for ways to slow down this back deterioration that I met another friend, Joe Ang, who was in the Ultrasonic Bubble Hydrotherapy machine distribution industry. I took up his invitation to go for a full body soak, and the pain relief was immediate. I went for a second soak after a week, and I was back on the squash courts training the day after. Following my third session, 2 weeks later, after the second soak, I was playing squash 3 times a week.

My 5 years absence from the squash scene was well known to my peers in the sport. They were surprised at my return, and when asked how I did it, my answer to them was just a three-word reply: “Ultrasonic Bubble Hydrotherapy”

I still maintain my wellness ecosystem - Daily core workouts, monthly chiropractor visits and fortnightly soaks.

I do firmly believe in the power of Ultrasonic Bubble Hydrotherapy and how it may potentially be a treatment that can help others too. This belief was my motivation to launch Shiruki Studio, as a Ultrasonic Bubble Hydrotherapy centre for the masses.
